What is Chiropractic?
Although chiropractic is known for moving the bones in the spine, fixing back pain is only a portion of the wonderful benefits chiropractic has to offer. Chiropractors are doctors who specialize in the nervous system and whole body physiology. The brain, spinal cord, and all other nerves make up the nervous system. Your nerves are attached to every living cell, allowing your body to move, your heart to pump blood, your lungs to exchange oxygen, and to coordinate all the little things our bodies do to keep us alive! This is why my #1 priority to your health is looking closely at your nervous system.

Everyday we experience stress. Stress can be physical (injury/trauma), chemical (unhealthy foods/drugs), or emotional (thoughts) stress. Our bodies are divinely designed to adapt to these stressors. But everyone's body has a limit to stress. Spinal bones may start to shift in an attempt to adapt to the stress and in this process can cause Irritation on close-by nerves, creating a subluxation. Subluxations interfere with nerve signals, and when these nerve signals get interrupted, your body will not be able to work properly. When your body isn't working properly due to an inflamed nerve, it will send out warning signs, or symptoms to alert you that there is a problem: headaches, back pain, neck pain, sciatica, digestion problems, poor posture, menstrual cycle issues, or hormone imbalances may occur. Imagine the problems that can arise with a nerve that has been inflamed for 10, 15, or even 20 years!
As a chiropractor in Maplewood, my goal is to find the inflamed and irritated nerve and remove it through chiropractic adjustments giving you relief. Not only does chiropractic combat and potentially reverse the damage done to our bodies due to stress in our daily lives, it can also help prevent damage to our bodies that stress can cause. This is why chiropractic care is so important!
